What is Octagion?

OCTAGION (rhymes with "contagion”) is a fast-paced word-building challenge that uses a specialized deck of cards, each displaying a letter and a number. The catch? You can’t use more than one card with the same number when spelling out a word.

The game accommodates any number of players. Play solo against the clock, go head-to-head with friends, or form teams of two or more. Each team uses its own OCTAGION deck, allowing you to divide and conquer: one teammate can sift through the deck for letters, another can start placing cards to form the word, and a third can spy on opponents to catch any slips.

Gameplay unfolds over eight rounds. At the start of each round, an 8-letter “challenge word” is revealed for all teams to solve. Your goal is to form this word with your OCTAGION cards faster than your opponents without repeating any numbers. As the game progresses, it becomes more challenging after wildcards (treatment cards) are used up in earlier rounds.

Included with the game are 800 curated words. Don’t be fooled—finding solutions is trickier than it seems, because many words can only be formed just a few ways without incurring penalties.
